Students are encouraged to incorporate units with community engagement activities into their studies. Service learning develops students’ ethical and social responsibility, supports the advancement of equity within the community, and enhances UWA’s reputation for educating students in good citizenship.
The University is committed to developing disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge and skills through study and research-based enquiry; to further developing the skills required to learn, and to continue through life to learn, from a variety of sources and experiences; to develop personal, social, and ethical awareness in an international context; and to communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately in a range of contexts.

A world-class student experience is a central feature of Education at UWA. We define a world-class student experience as ‘an inspiring, transformative, student-centred educative experience that meets or exceeds the expectations of all students to deliver the skills, knowledge and personal development necessary to equip them as future global citizens and leaders in their chosen careers’.
